The SR SN5 “Normalizer” is designed to reduce the 250-750MHz (B-Band)
power level to a level comparable to the 950–1450 MHz (Ku-Band) signal.
This minimizes the tendency of over-driving amplifiers in a distribution system.
The “Normalizer” typically precedes the first amplifier in the trunk of a
DirecTV Ka/Ku distribution system. All Ports are power-passing. The 95W
signal (when present) is not required to have normalization since it does
not have a 250 – 750 MHz signal present. Hence, the SR SN5 does not
accommodate this Ku signal.
